About me
asbn offers straw bale workshops mainly in Austria, but also in other European countries
My place
Ravelsbach is a small village 60km from Vienna, accessable by train (Ziersdorf) and car. On our 1000m2 ground we have two houses, an old converted straw bale barn for guests and an old farmhouse, where I live (this is the smokers area). I am chairman of asbn - the austrian strawbale network and we offer theoretical and practical courses from May until September. See our website: www.baubiologie.at
Projects
We offer practical straw bale courses (to pay) as well as free courses on building sites. As a volunteer you would help preparing the practical courses and in exchange you can participate, get food and accomodation. We have a second workshop place in Neu Nagelberg near Gmünd (on the Czech border), where we also make workshops, this year we build a transportable, mobile round straw bale house with reciprocal roof. So you are partly in 3720 Ravelsbach, partly in Neu Nagelberg, where we also have a straw bale guest house and an old (naturally) renovated house.
Accommodation
Accomodation in the main straw bale house (2 sleeping rooms) or two guest rooms (in the old house).
Food
We always cook together with our participants, we have two kitchens, eat mostly vegetarian during workshops but are not as strict with meat, if you like it, we will cook it as well.
